JuraFly fishing in Jura
And last but not least - he can stalk the broad reaching lower waters of Jura's finest rivers (the Bienne, Ain, Loue, Doubs and the Saine) - in search of the region's fabled Zebra Trout. The incredible clarity of Jura's magnificent snow melt waters offers the fish hunter a stalking paradise. The favoured local method is 'nymphe-a-vue' - nine foot cane, five weight floater, long tapered leader and the finest of tippets topped by variously weighted 18-20 nymphs. And in the mountain clarity of water you just target your fish. Simple enough but be warned. Big Zebra's don't give themselves up easily. These unique fish are savvy, fighting fit and often very large. Show the utmost stealth and discretion in your movement, and at all times - stay low! For lovers of the dry, all our recommenced rivers can provide wonderful sport along their length. But it is in the upper waters, where the fish are smaller and the hatches more abundant, that you will find the rising cream of the crop. There are many accessible upstream stretches, and in particular, the Haut Ain at Crotenay and Foncine are beautiful and prolific places to pass an evening rise. (I caught my first Jura trout at Crotenay - an indelible experience). To enquire about our holidays contact us by e-mail or call us on 0208 874 6717
